In recent years I have discovered how to off-set the gloom of 5:00 pm darkness for myself and family with the charm and whimsy of outdoor lighting.
As an example; our evening dining area overlooks the adjoining patio, stretch of lawn and guest house. To brighten our beautiful yard we light lanterns, strands of small hanging spheres, large rattan tree globes, and a slew of tiny sparking twinkle lights.
There is nothing like the magic of dancing lights to uplift your mood.
